Get the foundation right.

I am often shocked how many project managers merely look at the narrow definition of their trade….completing the project and moving on rather than understand that unlike a building or engineering project, good software projects are dynamic as both the requirements, expectations and often the time frames change. This is why software projects are often seen as dark art or failures.

We all know that the best projects are well designed, all stakeholders, especially the main ones, the actual user, are involved, and the risks mitigation is built in. This means that designs have to be user centric. You have to ask yourself the following.

1. Who are we designing for, age, demographics, users’ profiles. Do we understand them.

2. UX/UI planning stage needs to engage the end users by using focus groups and research.

3. Suggest various price points to see what money value end users put on the product or service.

4. Listen to them and be aware that the demographics can change fast.

After all they are the buyers and users of what service or product is offered.

At Sparta Consulting, as a software outsourcing provider, we take the early stage of ideation and engagement more importantly than most as it will save money and time in the long run.
